Our success with CFL bulbs sparked our interest in the next generation of energy saving lights, LEDs. We purchased several for our kitchen light fixture hoping they would perform as well as the CFLs.
The packaging on the bulbs indicated they were designed to replace 40 watt bulbs however the bulbs only consume and amazing 1.5 watts. The purchase price per bulb was very expensive running about $5.00 per bulb.
Unfortunately, we found the light output to be very disappointing. Several of the lights give off a dim green hue while others do not. Based on the results we experienced, we can not recommend LED bulbs as an everyday replacement.
If you leave a light on all night these bulbs may work well for you. However, we recommend that you skip this technology for now and purchase CFLs.
